Edyta Bartosiewicz vocalists one the Polish rock scene today.Is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding She recorded her first album The Big Beat with a young band Holloe Poloy in 1990. The album had minor success but one of Sopot Festival. After she split with the band she embarked on her solo career in 1991.
Writing and gathering new material took Edyta over one year. In 1992 together with Rafał Paczkowski, the producer, she recorded her first solo album called Love in the famous Warsaw studio S-4. All of the songs were sang in English. The album drew interest of Chrysalis Publishing in the U.K.. After a few months of negotiations Edyta finally signed an agreement with Chrysalis Publishing and i February 1993 the material was released by Izabelin Studio on the Polish market. The album won many awards for Edyta. She was nominated by Magazyn Muzyczny as the best female vocalists of 1990 and 1991. In 1992 she received the title of the best vocalist an the Sopot Festival.
In September 1994 Edyta's new album titled Sen (The Dream) was released by Izabelin Studio.
Leszek Kamiński ( Edyta's husband) recognized as the best sound engineer in Poland took care of the recording of Sen. Contrary to the Love album most of the songs on Sen Edyta performs in Polish-8 out of 12. The musical character of the album varies from one piece to another. Accoustic pieces mix with hard rock compositions-among others Janis Joplin cover Move over. Some of the songs from Sen like Koziorożec, Sen and Urodziny became great hits reaching tops of the charts.
In the second part of September'94 Edyta toured 9 biggest towns in overcrowded in majority of cities and the audience reacted spontaneously to the music performed by Edyta and her band. At this time, the sales of Sen have exceeded 130 thousand, which made it gold.
Among Edyta's latest achievements are tho titles shehas won. The first one-Female Vocalist of 1994 was given to her by the top Polish rock magazine TYLKO ROCK. the other one is the so-called Passport granted by the Polityka weekly for promoting the Polish music abroad.
On March 19, 1995 Edyta was awarded with Fryderyk'94 (Polish Grammy) as the Best Female Singer and her album Sen won in the catergory of the Best Album of The Year. These awards strenghtened Edyta's position on the Polish market and gave her fresh wind to go forward. She took part in numerous TV and radio shows which soared the sales of her album.
In June 1995, Edyta had the privilage to receive her first doublr gold disc award for the sales of 220.000 units of Sen. It' turned out one of the best selling albums in Poland in many years (and is still going great).
Then came time for a new album. With it, came a new image, a new style, a new Edyta. Cutting her hair down to (almost) skin, she began to create a completely different herself. The changes could not only be seen but also heard on the album she recorded (again with the great Leszek Kaminski in S-4) during the summer of'95. The album, released on September 18 th, simply called Szok & Show became gold in pre-sales!!! At the times of the release, Edyta occupied the #1 spot on the charts with her new hit Szał. The video for Szał was one of the wildest ones ever made in this country.
The next track for promotion was Zegar which occupied almost all of the radio charts at that time. It went to 31 in Poland according to Misuc & Media Airplay Charts (October 7 issue), bumping off Simply Red.
October 1995 saw Edyta peforming in 13 biggest cities in Poland. The concerts were very spectacular and surely became the No. 1 of the fall' for fans.
The year couldn't end better for Edyta. For Fryderyk'95 she is nominated in seven categories.
In the most prestigeous reader, s poll organized by TYLKO ROCK magazine Edyta received three awards. The categories were: Best Album (Szok 'n' Show), Best Vocalist and Best Song, where Szał took second place.
The videoclip for Szał was awarded as the best clip by readers of BRUM magazine. In the same poll organized by BRUM Edyta was recognized as the second best vocalist.
A new challenge for Edyta was producing (together with Leszek Kaminski) the album of Firebirds-the new hope of Izabelin Studio.
